Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) – Intermediate Phase — Cum Laude

Milicia Pretorius is a passionate and dedicated educator who loves working with children and helping them reach their full potential. She believes that every child is unique and deserves to feel supported, encouraged and confident in their learning journey.

She holds a Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase Teaching, which she completed cum laude, and has gained valuable experience working with learners across different ages and backgrounds. She began her career at a pre-primary school, where she developed a strong love for teaching and nurturing young children.

She then joined YearBeyond, a Western Cape Government programme, where she spent a year working in underprivileged schools, supporting Grade 3 learners with reading and Mathematics. This experience strengthened her passion for making a difference in the lives of children and providing learners with the support they need to succeed.

After YearBeyond, she worked as a full-time tutor, assisting learners from Grade 1 through to Grade 12. During this time, she gained experience supporting learners following different curricula, including Cambridge, CAPS and IEB. This allowed her to work with learners at various stages of their education and develop a flexible, patient and learner-centred approach to teaching.

She is now proud to be part of The Gift School, where she continues to grow as an educator and strives to make a positive difference in the lives of her learners.

In addition to her teaching qualification, she also holds a FAMSA Basic Counselling Certificate, which has provided her with valuable skills in communication, active listening and supporting children emotionally.

She is passionate about creating a classroom environment where learners feel safe, valued, supported and excited to learn. For her, one of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing a learner grow in confidence, overcome challenges and discover their own abilities.
