Grade 6 & 7 Camp – Learning Through Adventure
Our annual Grade 6 and 7 camp was once again a wonderful opportunity for our learners to experience the beauty of nature while developing independence, responsibility and teamwork.
Set in the beautiful Kapteinskloof in the Karoo, the children enjoyed being outdoors and exploring their surroundings. We went on a beautiful walk through the veld, surrounded by colourful fl owers, and were fortunate enough to see gemsbok along the way.
There was also plenty of time for swimming, games and simply enjoying one another’s company.
One of the highlights was a fascinating bird talk given by Andrew Marshall. He then took the children on a bird-watching walk, where they learned to identify the different birds they encountered. It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience.
Our Master Chef challenge was another great success! The children were divided into two teams and were given a selection of raw ingredients.
Working together, they had to come up with their own ideas and prepare their supper, with a little help from Andrew and the braai. There was plenty of creativity, teamwork and fun involved!
A camp is about much more than simply getting away from school. It gives our learners the opportunity to take responsibility, solve problems, work together, try new things and discover more about themselves and each other.
There was plenty of laughter, conversation, games and time spent together. It was a memorable camp fi lled with learning, friendship and adventure.
